General Information
Sandy Bear exist to provide bereavement and pre-bereavement support to children, young people, and their families. We work through telephone and face to face support, and with 1:1, family, and peer group support groups where appropriate and funding allows.
We are committed to fulfil our mission that all children, wherever they reside in Wales, should be able to access the right support, at the right time in the lead up to or following a bereavement.
For the successful candidates we offer full training and support to induct you and help you on your Sandy Bear journey. As well as line management and team support, we offer clinical supervision and keen to support personal development with additional training.
Due to the nature of these roles and the rurality of the areas, candidates will require access to a vehicle and the ability to travel.
Bereavement Coordinator – Carmarthenshire
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our delivery team as a Bereavement Coordinator- Carmarthenshire.
Following an internal promotion, we are seeking a Bereavement Coordinator to lead our work across Carmarthenshire. Based within our space at the Carmarthenshire Living Well centre at Parc Sant Dewi but with regular travel throughout Carmarthenshire and beyond, this role will have the opportunity to offer direct support to our children and families as well as develop, support and manage volunteers in delivering support in the lead up to and following a bereavement.
This role is great for those passionate about having the opportunity to support our families directly, whilst also being involved in broader development work to enable strong collaborations and partnerships which empower people to achieve better outcomes.
The post is offered on a full-time basis, though flexible working patterns and some reduced hours may be considered.

Area Lead – North Wales
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to support our mission ensuring that No child or young person, wherever they reside in Wales; grieves alone. This role is to support development across North Wales, with some lead functions which will influence and empower our team Wales-wide.
Our Area Leads are relatively new roles that add capacity and strength to our team of Bereavement staff and volunteers across defined geographic areas. Area leads work closely to ensure a consistent approach to Sandy Bear activity across their designated area, develop strong links across a variety of networks and forums to ensure our beneficiaries access the right support, at the right time.
